Tequila is a great party drink, whether it be tequila shots at a Mexican bar, cocktails at a Mexican-themed house party or a long drink when out for dinner.
But how to drink tequila can be improved a great deal by introducing flavoured tequila to your drinks cabinet.
The G&I Spirit Group has just launched a whole host of flavours to help you with your cocktail ideas.
Away from the standard blanco (silver) or joven (gold) varieties, there are three top tequilas you should think about when trying out something new:
- Coffee tequila
Coffee-flavoured tequila is a great starting point for cocktails, like an espresso martini, a Long Island Iced Coffee or an Iced Coffee Margarita but can also be drunk as a shot or over ice.
The Mis Amigos coffee tequila and agave is made with traditional Mexican ingredients, all ethically grown.
If you’re looking for an easy tequila drink recipe, add 35ml coffee tequila to 300ml of sweetened condensed milk, 250ml of evaporated milk, two tablespoons of cocoa powder and two teaspoons of vanilla extract to create Crema de Tequila.
- Chocolate cream tequila
Chocolate cream tequila is a perfect replacement for Baileys or for an after-dinner treat.
Without the sharp taste of regular tequila, it’s easy to drink over ice or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, to make your milkshakes or coffees taste more exciting.
If you’re looking for a milkshake/dessert recipe, add a scoop of ice cream in a glass, with 40ml of Mis Amigos chocolate cream tequila, 80ml milk, chocolate syrup and whipped cream to top.
- Strawberry cream tequila
As the winter turns into summer, Strawberry cream is the way you should welcome the warm weather.
It offers a creamy taste and provides the kick without being too overwhelming. Mis Amigos takes all the best bits of Tequila Rose and adds to it with higher alcohol content for a stronger taste. If you’re looking for that summer cocktail, you can make a strawberry martini. Add 70ml of strawberry cream tequila to a glass, add 25ml of vanilla-flavoured vodka and a couple of drops of dry vermouth then shake over ice, add cream and a strawberry to finish.
